Our Timeline
Nedging Hall
The estate’s history began with the purchase of Nedging Hall in 1986.
Gill and Brian Buckle moved into this stunning house with their children, James and Joanna, transforming it into their primary home. Alongside Nedging Hall was the farm, situated predominantly between Lindsey and Bildeston.
The Lindsey Rose & The Crown
After working in London for several years, James decided to return to Suffolk and take over managing the farm.

As the property and farm expanded across the county, James also purchased The Crown and The Lindsey Rose. Both properties were in need of refurbishment, so James invested a great deal of time and funds to develop them into the places we know and love over 20 years later.

When the previous tenants of The Lindsey Rose left the establishment in 2016, James’s son Charles decided to move out of London and take on the tenancy of The Lindsey Rose.
Mauldons & The Brewery Tap
After 3 years of successfully operating The Lindsey Rose, Charles' passion for beer led to him finding Suffolk’s oldest brewery, Mauldons, who were looking for a new custodian.
And so, in 2019 the family business bought Mauldons Brewery and The Mauldons’ Brewery Tap, both in Sudbury.
Nedging Hall as an exclusive use country house
After Gill Buckle sadly passed in 2020, it was decided that Nedging Hall would be utilised as a holiday let.
After work to modernise the living spaces, Nedging Hall took its first booking in May 2021

The business was now home to three pubs, a country house and a brewery.
After the addition of both The Lindsey Rose and The Crown to the Mauldons Company, a decision was made to rename the company to what we recognise it as today; Nedging Hall Estate.
Feeling that this name reflected our story much better, as a farming estate with barley grown for brewing beer and produce harvested for the restaurants.
